In the wake of the shooting on Sunday in a Madden NFL 19 tournament in Jacksonville, Florida, the CEO of EA Andrew Wilson has issued a statement confirming that the other qualifying events will be canceled to allow the company to perform "a complete review of security protocols" for viewers and participants in such events. Here are his passwords:
While these qualifying events are managed independently by partners, we work with them to ensure competitive integrity and gather feedback from players. We have decided to cancel our three remaining Madden Classic qualifying events as we perform a comprehensive review of security protocols for competitors and spectators. We will work with our partners and internal teams to establish a consistent level of security in all of our competitive gaming events.
The Sunday tournament was held at the GLHF Game Bar inside Chicago Pizza in downtown Jacksonville. The bomber took his own life after opening fire, injuring 11 people and killing four other competitors.
