PC Gaming Hardware Market forecast to cool down as TV and Cloud Gaming Markets Heat Up

TIBURON, Calif .– (BUSINESS WIRE) –Jon Peddie Research (JPR), the market research firm for the computer graphics industry has issued its latest studies for PC, TV, and Cloud Gaming Hardware. JPR forecasts that 20 million PC Gamers will switch to TV Gaming platforms in the 2018 - 2022 timeframe, loosely correlated with the decline of the PC platform globally. The majority will be as from the low-end (under $ 1000 full build cost), but because of improvements in TV displays and semiconductors consoles, as well as consoles exclusive titles, the ranks of mid-range and high-end PC gamer populations are also affected.

Jon Peddie, President of JPR said, “The PC market continues to decline because of the innovation that has taken place in the past providing speed ups and things new, but the product introduction times are stretching out to four years. The PC GPU market still generates incredible volume. But, there are forces at work that we predict will drive some of this business to TV displays and associated gaming products and services. "

Ted Pollak, Senior Analyst, Gaming Industry said, "We observe a higher percentage of low / mid-range PC products sold because of the consumer's intent to use with games." This is not the case, but it does not help you to find out more about it, but it does not help you to find out what the ultimate destiny of powerful consumer PCs is a desktop ergonomic, power user platform. Gaming services used with TV displays, whether local or cloud-based, will absorb some PC gamers and likely flourish with new entrants. In the next five years, we will see potential customers with access to TV Gaming swell by hundreds of millions. "

How does the world look five years from now? Very different. Moore's Law is no longer helping. The processor builders count on shrinking transistors for 24 months and either doubling performance or reducing costs. Product cycles will stretch to four years or more. Bandwidth, latency, and AI will help define computing power.
