Updated: Naughty Dog has published a communique in which he officially announces the postponement of The Last of Us: Part 2. The new publication date is set for the 29 May 2020. Written by N, the statement explains in detail why the delay in the game came so soon after the official announcement of the release date:

"It has been in the last few weeks, as we were closing sections of the game, that we realized that we simply didn't have enough time to take the whole game to a quality level from Naughty Dog. At this point we faced two options: compromising parts of the game or taking more time. We chose the latter option and this new release date allows us to finish everything [reaching] our level of satisfaction, while reducing stress for the team “.
