Super Lucky's Tale, the game developed by Playfull Studios seems to be having a hard time and we find out with a letter that appeared on the site.
The co-founders Paul and Kate Bettner they stated that the decision taken, namely to reduce full-time staff, was not taken lightly "It was an incredibly difficult decision" e "It breaks our heart to divide ourselves from our friends and colleagues".
At the time of writing, we are not aware of how many employees who worked at Super Lucky's Tale have been left at home, but the two founders said "We will work closely with people affected by this transition to help them move forward."
"Since 2012, we have had the incredible opportunity to collaborate with some of the most talented developers in our industry, to create unique and loved IPs and original games" we find it written in the message attached to the statements of Paul and Kate Bettner.
“We have created and shipped multiple titles on a wide range of platforms to millions of players around the world, and we are incredibly proud of the work that our teams have done along the way. During this time we have taken significant risks to grow our studio, we have dared to dream big and we have worked hard to pursue these incredible opportunities together with our friends.
The constant changes in the global video game market require that Playful evolve its approach to the development and production of our current and future projects. The study will collide towards a leaner production model based on the development of distributed games and dynamic project-based teams.
As part of this transition in our operating model, we made the incredibly difficult decision to significantly reduce our full-time staff, starting today "
A difficult departure
The letter concludes “We are really heartbroken to separate ourselves from many of our friends and colleagues. These are people who poured their hearts into every game that Playful has created, who have supported us and others in every step of the way and have truly made this study what it is today. We will work closely with each person affected by this transition to help them move forward. "
