In response to the decision of California Governor Gavin Newsom of declare a state of emergency Due to the New Coronavirus, ESA said it is assessing the situation ahead of E3 2020.
A state of emergency was declared Wednesday following two deaths and more than 50 cases confirmed on the west coast of the united states, between the state of Washington and California.
The news comes a few days from reassuring statements of the organizers of E3 2020. Just three months after the event, we still have no precise details, and the situation is constantly changing.
An ESA press release reports that:
“The health and safety of visitors, exhibitors, our partners and staff are our first priority. We are monitoring the situation on a daily basis as we continue to work towards a successful E3 2020. The event will take place between 9 and 11 July 2020. "
“Our team and partners continue to monitor the COVID-19 situation in collaboration with the Centers for the Prevention of Infectious Diseases and the World Health Organization. We are evaluating the situation to take the right measures in order to minimize health risks "
For E3, 2020 seems like a cursed year. The coronavirus emergency hits the event after a long series of negative events, from a cyber attack on the site to the defections of Geoff Keighley and Sony.
