The global pandemic has plunged numerous sectors into crisis, including entertainment and sport. Konami made the decision to postpone (as in real life) the update that included UEFA Euro 2020 to the target date.
Below, you can find the press release:
Following the shift of the final phase of UEFA Euro 2020 and the aftermath of the COVID-19 pandemic, Konami Digital Entertainment today announced that UEFA EURO 2020 downloadable content (DLC) for eFootball PES 2020 was postponed until a later date.
The state of emergency, recently declared in Japan, will in fact not allow to respect the DLC release date of April 30 previously announced.
KONAMI has also decided to cancel the release of a new physical version of eFootball PES 2020 with a cover dedicated to UEFA EURO 2020. However, anyone who already owns or intends to purchase eFootball PES 2020 in the future, will be able to enjoy the free update for PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC Steam when it is made available through a Data Pack.
Together with news about the planned DLC, Konami and UEFA have confirmed that the esports tournament UEFA and EURO 2020, played exclusively with eFootball PES 2020, will continue this year until the final scheduled for 23/24 May which will be played online. The finalists were originally scheduled to meet in London in July, but it was preferred to end the tournament in virtual mode.
