Through a press release and a short dedicated teaser trailer, Konami completely turns the future of eFootball PES. If on the one hand this year users will only receive an update of the title currently on the market, starting from 2021 the series will land on next gen using Unreal Engine as a game engine, to the detriment of the well-established Fox Engine.

As the industry is preparing to face an exciting new generation of consoles, we believe that now is the perfect time to share some of our plans for the future of the PES franchise with you.

The next title will have been developed with an updated engine that will allow us to impress with incredible improvements in all aspects. Expect more realistic player models and animations, improved physics, photorealistic visual effects and more.

However, the sheer scale of everything we aim to achieve for our next generation debut made it necessary to reduce our efforts in other projects. As a result, we made the decision to launch the annual PES as a simplified offer in the form of a "seasonal update".

It will be interesting to understand the causes of this choice, even if the excellent results and simplifications in the development guaranteed by the Epic Games proprietary engine already seem to be valid reasons in themselves.
