With a post published on Playstation Blog relative to the ShowCase dedicated to PS5, more details have emerged about some previously announced games. The most significant surprise is undoubtedly the one concerning Horizon Forbidden West which, as confirmed by Jim Ryan, will also be available on PS4:
“We know that the PS4 community will make the transition to PS5 at different timelines and we are pleased to announce the PS4 version of some of our exclusives. Marvel's Spider-Man: Miles Morales, Sackboy A Big Adventure and Horizon Forbidden West will also be released on PS4. While these three games are designed to enjoy PS5-exclusive next-gen features like ultra-fast SSD and Dual Sense controller, PS4 owners will be able to enjoy these experiences at launch. PS4 digital versions of the titles will include a free upgrade for both PS5 consoles, while PS4 physical versions of the above games will include a free upgrade for PS5 with Ultra HD Blu-ray player.
Sony is therefore partial "Reverse" compared to initial intentions to release its new exclusives only on the next generation console. The PS4 era is therefore destined to go on for some time, considering the release of the new chapter of the Aloy saga scheduled for 2021.
