Despite the failure of the operation Steam Controller, Valve has never hidden its interest in supporting alternative peripherals outside the classics mouse and keyboard. In a recent post on theirs official blog dedicated to support for the Dualense of PS5, the digital delivery platform on PC has communicated the data related to the project Steam Input API.
“Over the past two years, the number of average users playing on Steam with a controller has more than doubled, with millions of players taking advantage of the ever-growing catalog of titles. controller-friendly everyday."
Speaking of PlayStation controllers, on the other hand, users seem to have grown from 10.9% to 21.6%. And this without considering the 200 devices currently compatible with the API including the Nintendo Switch Pro Controller, the Xbox One Gamepad and many other third-party controllers.
In short, it seems that even the master race is finally embracing the benefits of console gaming. Could this be the beginning of the end of an era?
