In 2020 what is called the Gigaleak's Nintendo, in which the source codes of various classic games and projects for various consoles have been published.

At the latest annual shareholder meeting in Kyoto, Japan, the company was asked what its position was on iQue, the Chinese brand created to publish Nintendo content that was also included in the big leak. Here are the words of Nintendo president Shuntaro Furukawa:

“The market for PC and mobile games in China is large, but dedicated game consoles are not that big. Together with Tencent, we want to continue making them popular. We are working with experts on information leaks. We have also introduced information security management ”.

In short, safety has been increased. When the leak occurred, internal documentation and data for Nintendo, GameCube, Nintendo DS and Wii projects began to circulate online, giving fans a behind-the-scenes look at the company. A group of fans used the documents to restore a 30-year-old Super Mario World soundtrack while another modder spent nine months repairing a prototype of a SNES version of Super Mario Kart that also included a course editor.

Nintendo's “gigaleak” saw a staggering amount of content posted online, including the actual presence of Luigi in Super Mario 64 and a series of playable prototypes of popular games like Super Mario Kart and Yoshi's Island.

Nintendo is also famous for its litigation and removals related to its IP, which it protects in an extreme way. For example, the last case involves the removal of a series of videos of a YouTuber, guilty of having created some Metroid music covers.
